A small film crew joined us for the May 1, 2021, Odyssey Alcatraz swim. We were happy to welcome the team on the boat as we led the crossing from Alcatraz to St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco. A group of 37 swimmers joined us for the 2-mile swim. We were unsure what would be the result of the video they captured and were amazed at the final result, which is a short film titled “Swimming from Alcatraz.”

Swimming from Alcatraz was dedicated to “those swimming from their own personal Alcatraz.” The short film was produced by Thomas Brouns (@Tom_Brouns) and David Rodriguez.

The film thanked Odyssey Open Water Swimming and Founder Warren Wallace in the credits at the end of the film. Swimming from Alcatraz was produced at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley (@ucbsoj).

Watch the short 8-minute film above and enjoy! We’re thankful to have the opportunity to share open water swimming with the world, and grateful for being a small part of this wonderful short film.
