BUOY SELFIES WITH ODYSSEY OPEN WATER SWIMMING

There is no shortage of selfies on the internet. But there is plenty of room for unique and interesting selfies that are taken during exciting activities, like open water swimming!

Odyssey Open Water Swimming, in addition to guiding swimmers through the most challenging, friendly, and safe Bay Area swimming adventures, is known for our buoy selfies (#buoyselfie).

What is a Buoy Selfie?

A buoy selfie is exactly what it sounds like — a selfie picture taken during open water swimming with a camera that is attached to a buoy.

While buoys can’t take pictures, swimmers can use a camera attached to a buoy to take their own picture. This is how buoy selfies are possible. Odyssey Open Water Swimming uses a GoPro camera, attached to a buoy, to give open water swimmers the opportunity to take a buoy selfie.

One of the most popular types of buoy selfies is the duo selfie, because who doesn’t love swimming with a buddy?

Buoy selfies have been taken underwater, upside down, close up, far away, and in almost any and every other way, shape, or form you can imagine. View more buoy selfies and pics from Odyssey swims here on the Odyssey Gallery page.

Buoy selfie images are included in each of our photo albums on the Odyssey Open Water Swimming Facebook page!

Buoy Selfie of the Month (BSOTM)

The Buoy Selfie of the Month is a monthly competition that takes place during the spring, summer, and fall, and allows one Odyssey swimmer to win a piece of Odyssey apparel (see Odyssey apparel here).
