2024 Rat Race - Serious Fun
A swim that just happens to also be timed — the Odyssey Rat Race is a race that isn’t a race. The event’s name is a fun play on words, since it takes place around Rat Rock Island.
The Odyssey Rat Race will return for a third year, and we’re continuing to dial up the fun with catered food, prizes, and lots of fun. The Odyssey Rat Race is a special 3k (1.86 mi) swim in Marin County. The course starts from McNears Beach, goes around a buoy, and then run parallel to shore to Rat Rock Island, and then all the way back to McNears Beach.
Swimmers are provided with official times and winners are announced at the conclusion of the race, where swimmers and their families are invited to join a picnic lunch, with food provided for free for all participants. The Odyssey Rat Race is open to all experience levels, and no membership is required. Any swimmer comfortable swimming for two miles is welcome to participate.
