Steve Pierre is Swimming from Alcatraz to Protect and Preserve Marine Life

The Alcatraz swim, which begins just outside of Alcatraz Island due to its standing as a National Park, is a challenging, scenic, and world-famous swim. Steve Pierre is preparing for an upcoming Odyssey Alcatraz swim, but not for personal glory, but to raise awareness and funds to support and preserve marine life.

My name is Steve Pierre. In October of this year, I am attempting a swim from Alcatraz Island with the Odyssey Open Water Swimming Organization, for which I am currently training. I have always cared about the environment and ocean life and am now trying to protect them. All funds will be donated to charities whose missions are to protect and preserve our marine life.

Steve, who has created a Go Fund Me Campaign, is asking for donations of any amount to help with “our reefs and ecosystems' education, protection, and preservation.” Donations will benefit the Coral Reef Alliance, Save Our Shores, and All One Ocean, and will be given to the charities on October 16, 2022.

Way to go, Steve!
