The Community Answers “What is Your Current Preferred Open Water Swim Distance?”

IMG_1982.JPG

Each week, we ask the open water swimming community a question and share their responses with you here on the Odyssey Open Water Swimming blog. Recently, we asked swimmers two questions:

  • What is your favorite style of swim and why?

  • What is your current preferred open water swim distance?

The responses we received to “what is your favorite style of swim and why” included:

  • “I really enjoy breaststroke pull and kick followed by a butterfly kick. It’s surprisingly powerful in open water.” - @suz_orange

  • “Splashy & trashy.” - @albert3kelly

We received more engagement when asking about swimmer’s preferred open water distance. Here are the responses we received:

Facebook

  • “Depends on the water temp and quality .” - Rebecca

  • “2 miles is the sweet spot for me, although longer is nice as the waters warm through summer.” - Suzanne M.

  • “One mile of 1.5 miles.” - Eric See

  • “4000M.” - Aristides M.

  • “Two thousand yards, but sometimes the more the merrier.” - Shon J.

Instagram

  • “3 miles. And 1 Mile.” - @velo_pacific_

  • “Magic mile.” - @ultraheidi

  • “1 mile!” - @pollyannacowgirl

  • “2 miles. It’s not too short or long but good amount of time in the water.” - @scardenasjr

  • “5km my first race. 10km” - @lagosstavros

  • “1.5 miles.” - @henriettatwo
