Time for Your Close-Up! Announcing The Odyssey #Buoyselfie of the Month Contest (BSOTM)
During each Odyssey Open Water Swimming Berkeley swim, swimmers have the option to take a #buoyselfie using the GoPro camera, which is attached to a buoy at the start of each swim. We’ve seen hundreds of smiles, loads of creativity, and many incredible shots over the past two years.
Starting this month (July 2021), we will hold a monthly #buoyselfie competition, called Buoy Selfie of the Month (BSOTM), on the official Odyssey Open Water Swimming Facebook page. At the end of each month, we will publish an album sharing buoy selfies from each swim that month. The #buoyselfie with the most interactions (likes, hearts, etc.) after a week will be the winner, and the person in the selfie will win a prize. If there are multiple people in the winning selfie, they can decide who will receive the prize.
How to Enter & The Rules
To enter, simply attend an upcoming Odyssey Berkeley swim. During the swim, take a buoy selfie using the GoPro camera attached to the buoy. You can take multiple selfies, however, only one selfie per swimmer per swim will count towards the contest. However, a swimmer may have a solo selfie, and one group selfie from a single swim be counted towards the contest. Our Content Manager (Michael) will select which selfies from each swim are included in the contest.
After a week of voting, we will announce the winner on Facebook. The winner can then contact us via Facebook Messenger to claim their prize.
The Prize
The winner of the #Buoyselfie of The Month will receive one Odyssey Open Water Swimming apparel item. Options include:
